The Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all EHS programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and to promote a proactive safety and sustainability culture. This leader partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, HR, and Corporate EHS to drive strategic initiatives that minimize risk, improve employee wellbeing, and ensure business continuity. 

This position is on-site, 5 days a week at Charlotte BIC located at 5910-D Long Creek Park Drive, Charlotte, NC 28269.

Responsbilities:

EHS Leadership and Budget Management: Lead & execute the EHS and security strategy across Charlotte facilities. Ensure full compliance with national legislation & international standards (OHSA, OIT, ISO). Drive performance of KPIs such as TRIR, LTIR, environmental metrics, and compliance scores.  Directly support and manage 2 direct reports: Safety Support Specialist and Environment, Safety & Sustainability Specialist.  Management and direct oversight of $1M in operational spend.  

Health, Safety, and Industrial Risk: Lead and Supervise audits, risk assessments, incident investigations (using tools like 5 Whys, SCAT, Ishikawa) & establish preventative/corrective actions to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Empower authority to suspend unsafe operations. 

Security Management: Oversee corporate & physical security programs; access control, CCTV, visitor management, crisis management, and business continuity. Implement strategies for risks of theft, sabotage, workplace violence, and emergencies.   

Environmental & Sustainability Programs: Direct projects to reduce environmental footprint, waste management, recycling & circular economy initiatives.  Manage environmental permits, reporting, and recordkeeping (e.g., stormwater, air emissions, hazardous waste, SPCC, Tier II, TRI, etc.).   Lead environmental audits, corrective action plans, and sustainability initiatives.  \

Global Communication & Campaigns: Develop and deploy global EHS&S campaigns, training materials, and communication strategies to ensure consistent cultural alignment across sites worldwide. Partner with corporate communications to promote awareness, safety days, sustainability weeks, and wellbeing campaigns. Act as a global ambassador for EHS&S culture, aligning initiatives with corporate purpose & employee engagement.   

Training & Culture: Lead safety committees, emergency brigades, and training programs. Build a strong zero accident / zero incident culture through engagement, coaching & recognition.   

Crisis & Emergency Management: Lead emergency response and business continuity plans for events such as fire, floods, earthquakes, or security breaches. Ensure timely crisis communication and escalation to global leadership.   

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in environmental science, Occupational Safety and Health or Engineering, or relevant field of study.   
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in an EHS-related role within a fast-paced manufacturing / production environment. 
  • Lean & Six Sigma Certification (Preferred), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (Preferred), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) (Preferred), Associate Safety Professional (ASP) (Preferred), OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Preferred), ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Training (Preferred) 
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional improvement initiatives with measurable results.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, professional services, or similar operational environments. 
  • Strong understanding of environmental, safety, and health regulations
