The Role

The Co‑Packing Planner is responsible for raw material planning and coordinating co‑packing production activities to ensure the timely, cost‑effective, and compliant execution of production plans. Acting as the primary interface between internal stakeholders and external co‑packers, the role ensures product availability for co‑packed products, the effective delivery of new product launches and promotional activities, accurate master data management, and continuous improvement in cost and service levels.


Key Responsibilities


Co‑Packer Management

  • Act as the primary planning interface between the business and co‑packing partners
  • Communicate production schedules, volume changes, and priorities clearly and in a timely manner.
  • Request, compare, and evaluate quotations from multiple co‑packers for promotional packs and special executions.
  • Manage material availability (packaging, components) to support production plans.
  • Support and sign off first production runs / launch readiness in line with quality, supply, and operational requirements.

Procurement management

  • Plan and manage procurement activities aligned with demand forecasts, production schedules, and inventory targets
  • Coordinate with suppliers on availability, pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and performance
  • Analyze procurement data to support cost optimization and process improvements
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers and changes to existing operational setups.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report key KPIs on copacking activity and suppliers (OTIF, quality, adherence to plan, inventory gaps, write‑offs).
  • Identify root causes of supply disruptions or missed service metrics and lead corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve planning accuracy, execution efficiency, and cost.

Systems & Data

  • Maintain accurate planning data within ERP and planning systems (MDM, BY, JDE)
  • Ensure master data (BOMs, lead times, MOQ, safety stock) remains accurate on existing product and new product.
  • Support planning process improvements

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Demand Planning, Supply planning, marketing and customer service.
  • Escalate supply risks and constraints with clear mitigation plans.
  • Support stock take, quality reviews, and regulatory requirements related to co‑packed products.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On‑Time In‑Full (OTIF) delivery
  • Plan adherence / schedule stability
  • Inventory gaps and stock write‑offs
  • Forecast and production plan accuracy
  • Supplier and Co‑packer service level performance
  • Cost‑to‑serve / manufacturing cost variances

Requirements


Essential

  • Experience in supply planning or production planning within FMCG or consumer goods.
  • Hands‑on experience working with contract manufacturers or co‑packers.
  • Strong understanding of planning principles, lead times, capacity constraints, and inventory management.
  • High level of proficiency in ERP / planning systems and Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Desirable

  • Experience with S&OP / IBP processes.
  • Exposure to promotions planning and NPD execution.
  • Experience with offshore or multi‑site co‑packing operations.
  • Lean / Continuous Improvement experience.
