As HR Director Manufacturing NAM & LAM and Country HR Mexico, you will lead the People agenda across BIC’s manufacturing operations in North America and Latin America, encompassing four manufacturing sites located in the United States, Mexico (2 factories), and Brazil, representing approximately 2000 employees. 

You will partner closely with regional and site leadership teams to ensure that talent, organization, culture, workforce strategies, and manufacturing capabilities support business performance, operational excellence, manufacturing excellence, and long-term growth. 

A key aspect of the role will be to elevate all manufacturing sites to BIC’s highest standards in leadership, culture, people practices, workforce capability, and organizational effectiveness. Through a combination of talent strategy, capability building, and organizational transformation, you will help build a world-class manufacturing organization and support the continuous development of manufacturing excellence across the network. 

In addition, you will serve as the Country HR leader for Mexico, overseeing HR operations, legal compliance, payroll governance, benefits administration, time and attendance management, employee relations, and employee experience programs across all employee populations in the country. You will ensure a seamless, compliant, and high-quality team member experience while driving consistency in HR policies, processes, and practices. 

The role will also contribute to the evolution of BIC’s manufacturing footprint through productivity, optimization, acquisition, integration, expansion, consolidation, or restructuring initiatives, ensuring that people considerations remain at the center of strategic business decisions. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Manufacturing HR Leadership (NAM & LAM) 

  • Lead the HR strategy and execution across BIC’s manufacturing facilities in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, ensuring alignment with business priorities and operational objectives. 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to regional and site leadership teams on organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, talent, culture, engagement, and change management. 

  • Drive the regional people development agenda, including talent reviews, succession planning, leadership development, and high-potential programs. 

  • Lead capability-building initiatives from assessment through deployment, ensuring the organization develops the skills required to support future manufacturing and business needs. 

  • Partner with Manufacturing leaders to build a culture of manufacturing excellence by strengthening leadership capabilities, workforce effectiveness, operational discipline, and people practices across all sites. 

  • Drive the harmonization and continuous improvement of HR practices across the region, ensuring all factories progressively operate at BIC standards in talent management, employee engagement, labor relations, safety culture, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance. 

  • Support strategic workforce planning and organization design initiatives to ensure the manufacturing network is equipped with the capabilities required to deliver future business objectives. 

  • Lead the people strategy and execution for manufacturing footprint evolution initiatives, including network optimization, site start-ups, capacity expansions, transfers of production, acquisitions, integrations, restructuring programs, and factory transformations. 

  • Lead HR activities related to M&A projects impacting the manufacturing network. 

  • Lead the annual people cycle across the region, including goal setting, performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and compensation processes. 

  • Support manufacturing teams in delivering productivity, efficiency, and flexibility programs while ensuring sustainable people practices. 

  • Oversee employee and labor relations across all manufacturing sites, coaching local HR leaders and supporting constructive relationships with unions and employee representatives. 

  • Partner with local HR teams and Centers of Excellence to attract, develop, engage, and retain top talent. 

  • Champion a strong culture of health, safety, well-being, inclusion, and accountability across all manufacturing operations. 

Country HR Leadership (Mexico) 

  • Serve as the senior HR leader for Mexico, ensuring operational excellence, legal compliance, and a consistent team member experience across all business functions and employee populations. 

  • Own the governance and continuous improvement of payroll, benefits, time and attendance management, HR administration, employee data management, and local HR policies and practices. 

  • Ensure full compliance with Mexican labor laws, collective bargaining obligations, social security requirements, payroll regulations, tax requirements, data privacy rules, and all employment-related legislation. 

  • Lead relationships with labor authorities, external auditors, legal advisors, social security agencies, and other government institutions as required. 

  • Partner with business leaders to ensure a consistent and positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through development, performance management, and separation. 

  • Drive local employee engagement, well-being, recognition, inclusion, and culture initiatives that reinforce BIC’s values and strengthen employee commitment. 

  • Ensure consistency and alignment of HR processes, policies, and practices across all functions operating in Mexico. 

  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence to effectively deploy compensation, benefits, learning, talent management, and employee relations programs. 

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate HR, labor, legal, and compliance risks while ensuring appropriate governance and controls. 

  • Oversee labor relations strategy and support the effective management of employee matters, investigations, disputes, and complex employment cases. 

  • Ensure excellence in HR service delivery and continuous improvement of local HR operations. 

Leadership and Governance 

  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across functions, divisions, and geographies, providing strategic counsel on complex people and organizational challenges. 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

  • Identify, develop, coach, and mentor high-potential talent across the organization. 

  • Continually assess and improve HR programs, policies, and practices to ensure competitiveness, operational effectiveness, and alignment with business needs. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labor regulations across all countries within the scope. 

  • Partner with internal and external legal counsel on complex employment matters, organizational transformations, labor relations issues, and strategic workforce initiatives. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Ability to establish positive interpersonal relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 

  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Social Sciences, or a related field preferred. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience supporting manufacturing organizations within multinational environments, preferably FMCG. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading HR across multiple countries and cultures within complex industrial environments. 

  • Strong track record in labor relations, organizational transformation, change management, and talent development. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in Mexican labor law and HR operations, including payroll, benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, and workforce governance. 

  • Experience supporting both mature and emerging markets and managing diverse workforce populations. 

  • Strong business acumen and ability to connect people strategies with operational and financial outcomes.
