The Sr Lawyer will partner with the Senior Manager in the definition and implementation of the legal strategy in MexEc Region, in order to provide efficient support to the commercial team of Mexico, Ecuador and GeM. Reinforcing the cross functional communication, improving the presence of the legal department as a Business Partner, and to create a preventive and innovative culture in line with the commercial strategy.

 

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Implement, monitor and deal locally with the corporate matters in order to have a high level of control of the Power of attorneys and Shareholder Meetings. Defining the best local strategy and aligning it with the Corporate Department of the Group Legal. Also, and providing the Group with the documents/reports/information accordingly
  • Guarantee the implementation and usage of Contract Process in the Region, monitoring it and improving is time from time. Facilitating the time of response of the request of the Procurement, and Comercial teams, assuring the signature of the contracts of the company in its best interest
  • Reinforce the compliance of the license and governmental permit of the sites in MexEc Region offices
  • Offer proactive and reactive guidance on a variety of business areas, including commercial, marketing, corporate, finance, and procurement
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust, awareness of BIC, and at BIC´s best interest
  • Guarantee, monitor and contribute with the compliance of the New Labor law in Mexico
  • Work with the controlling areas to create and implement local policies in accordance with the Group Compliance strategy and also local requirements
  • Coordinate, manage and define the strategy of the usage of outside counsels on specific projects, matters, and litigation
  • Management of the MexEc litigation portfolio to follow up locally, Group Legal and build strategy in order to decrease the costs and find opportunities
  • Assist the Senior Legal Manager of the region by assuming and leading the demands of contracts and legal advice to the business areas

 

Requirements:

  • Lawyer Degree and admitted to practice in a country
  • Fluent Spanish and English
  • Minimum experience of 7 years
  • Experience in a corporate environment: dealing with contacts, drafting, negotiating and revising, conducing matters of corporate law, marketing law and litigation 
  • Desirable experience in compliance and regulatory
  • Desirable experience in multinational companies or CPG 
  • Experience with international reports and alignments · Ability to draft, implement, train and advice on compliance matters, policies and local requirements.
