JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, operation support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pen packaging machines and associated equipment. The role ensures optimal machine performance, minimizes downtime, maintains product quality, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety and manufacturing standards.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Perform routine inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and preventive maintenance of pen packaging machines.
  •  Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective maintenance to minimize production downtime.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to packaging machine mechanisms, conveyors, feeding systems, sealing units, carton packing units, and labelling systems.
  • Support predictive maintenance activities through condition monitoring and equipment inspections.
  • Repair or replace defective machine components such as bearings, chains, belts, gears, cams, shafts, guides, and pneumatic elements.
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with company safety regulations and lockout/tagout and Tryout (LOTOTO) procedures.

 

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  •  Minimum of OND or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Tooling, or a related field.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Pen Packaging maintenance, preferably pen manufacturing.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experience maintaining high-speed packaging machinery, preferably in pen, stationery,
  • Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, and pneumatic systems.
  • Practical experience in the use of workshop machinery, including Lathe machine (turning, threading, and machining components) Surface grinding machine (precision finishing and dimensional accuracy) and other general workshop tools and equipment
  • Skilled in setting up and fine-tuning pen alignment mechanisms to prevent jams, misfeeds, skewed packaging, product damage, and quality defects.
  • Ability to inspect and optimize pen flow from production lines into packaging machines for consistent machine performance.
  • Perform alignment and calibration of pen feeding systems, guide tracks, and transfer mechanisms to ensure accurate product positioning throughout the packaging process.
