The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data collection systems and processing pipelines that support analytics and reporting across the business. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and well-structured data pipelines that enable efficient data consumption by the Data and Analytics department and business stakeholders. 

The Data Engineer contributes to the development of data processing solutions that support BIC’s growing data foundation. Working closely with senior data engineers, analytics teams, and business users, the Data Engineer helps leverage data through reporting and analytical tools such as Power BI, Dremio, and Spark, while continuously improving data quality and performance. 

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL / ELT pipelines and data transformation processes
  • Build and optimize cloud-based analytics solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Spark, SQL, and ADLS Gen2
  • Support ingestion, transformation, and processing of structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources including databases, APIs, files, and cloud platforms
  • Develop and maintain analytics-ready datasets, curated data layers, and reusable data models
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and jobs to ensure reliability, performance, and data quality
  • Collaborate with BI Developers and analytics teams to support reporting, semantic models, and Power BI solutions
  • Contribute to data governance, metadata management, documentation, and data quality initiatives
  • Participate in continuous improvement and optimization initiatives across the analytics platform
  • Work within Agile and DevOps-based delivery processes, including Git version control, pull requests, and deployment workflows
  • Support incident investigation, root cause analysis, and production issue resolution

What You’ll Bring To BIC

  • 2–6 years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analytics roles
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases
  • Hands-on experience building and supporting ETL / ELT pipelines
  • Experience with Azure-based analytics technologies such as:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Spark / PySpark
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
  • Power BI
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics and modern data platform architectures
  • Understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and large-scale data processing concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows (branches, pull requests, code reviews, deployments)
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and basic CI/CD or DevOps practices
  • Experience with troubleshooting, performance optimization, and data quality validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and international teams
  • Fluent English
