The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for designing, leading, and optimizing scalable data engineering solutions that support analytics, reporting, and business decision-making across BIC. The role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and well-structured data platforms and pipelines that enable efficient data consumption by the Data & Analytics department and business stakeholders.
The Senior Data Engineer plays a key role in shaping BIC’s growing data foundation by designing and implementing scalable data processing solutions. Working closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and fellow engineers, the Senior Data Engineer leverages technologies such as Power BI, Spark, and Azure-based analytics services to drive data quality, platform performance, and engineering excellence.
In addition to hands-on development, the Senior Data Engineer provides technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, solution design, and the promotion of engineering best practices across the Data & Analytics organization.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and lead the implementation of scalable ETL / ELT pipelines and data transformation frameworks
- Design, build, and optimize cloud-based analytics solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Spark, SQL, and ADLS Gen2
- Lead the ingestion, transformation, and processing of structured and semi-structured data from multiple sources including databases, APIs, files, and cloud platforms
- Design and maintain analytics-ready datasets, curated data layers, reusable data models, and enterprise-scale data solutions
- Drive performance optimization initiatives across Spark workloads, SQL workloads, and enterprise data pipelines
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex production incidents and data quality issues
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, BI Developers, Data Analysts, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Define and promote data engineering best practices, coding standards, reusable frameworks, and development guidelines
- Mentor and support Data Engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and best practice adoption
- Contribute to data governance, metadata management, documentation, and platform modernization initiatives
- Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to long-term analytics platform roadmap discussions
- Work within Agile and DevOps-based delivery processes, including Git version control, pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD practices, and deployment workflows
What You'll Bring To BIC
- 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or related roles
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale relational and analytical data platforms
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting ETL / ELT pipelines in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with Azure-based analytics technologies such as:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Spark / PySpark
- Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
- Power BI
- Strong understanding of cloud-based analytics architectures and modern data platform concepts
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and large-scale data processing concepts
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and high-performance data solutions
- Experience conducting code reviews and promoting engineering best practices
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across projects and initiatives
- Hands-on experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows (branches, pull requests, code reviews, deployments)
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and CI/CD or DevOps practices
- Experience with troubleshooting, performance optimization, root cause analysis, and data quality validation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across global teams
- Fluent English
