Job Summary:
The Inventory Exception Specialist is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving inventory discrepancies within a warehouse or distribution center. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy by conducting root cause analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and misplacements
- Conduct root cause analysis on inventory variances and document findings
- Reconcile system inventory with physical counts through cycle counts and audits
- Collaborate with operations, receiving, shipping, and quality teams to resolve exceptions
- Monitor and manage exception reports, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
- Maintain detailed records of inventory adjustments and investigations
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements to reduce recurring discrepancies
- Support cycle count programs and assist with physical inventory audits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and inventory control procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School diploma / GED is preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience in a warehouse environment
- Working knowledge to work accurately through WMS and Microsoft Office systems
- Maintain business confidentiality
- Must have good communication skills – both verbal and written
- Available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must display a strong work ethic and sense of urgency
- Ability to work in a team-based, feedback friendly, environment
- Display high attention to detail and a process-driven mindset
- Must be knowledgeable and abide by all company safety policies and procedures
- Previous work experience in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing environment
- Ability to be on your feet for 8+ hours a day
- Must be able to work in a production environment that involves lifting boxes and product up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with RF scanners and inventory tracking systems
- Familiarity with cycle counting and inventory audit processes
