The Role 

We’re looking for a People Experience Manager to be our on the ground people partner in the US.  This role sits close to the business — supporting managers, guiding employees, and making sure our people practices work, day-to-day, as we grow. You’ll balance strong business partnering with brilliant HR operations, helping teams perform at their best while keeping things compliant, consistent, and human. 

 

Reporting to our People Director, you’ll work closely with a UK based People team and act as the local HR lead in the US, translating global people practices into practical, effective delivery on the ground — always in a way that feels true to Tangle Teezer 

 

In this role you’ll get to: 

  • Be the goto HR partner for US managers and employees, providing practical, commercially minded people advice. 

  • Own daytoday HR delivery in the US, ensuring the full employee lifecycle runs smoothly and consistently. 

  • Lead employee relations matters, handling issues early, fairly, and with sound judgement — and knowing when to escalate. 

  • Partner with managers to build confidence in performance management, feedback, and people decisionmaking. 

  • Deliver core people processes including goal setting, performance reviews, and engagement surveys, making sure they land well locally. 

  • Act as the local connector between the US business and the wider People team, sharing insight on what’s working and where support is needed. 

  • Support US workplace and officerelated people needs, ensuring the environment supports effective ways of working and a positive employee experience. 

  • Maintain accurate people data, records, and documentation to support good decisionmaking. 

  • Oversee US payroll, ensuring accurate processing and smooth administration of programs including 401(k). 

  • Provide practical, uptodate guidance on U.S. federal and state employment law, supporting managers in compliant decisionmaking. 

  • Maintain and evolve US HR policies and processes, ensuring compliance, data accuracy, and consistent employee experience. 

  • Continuously look for ways to simplify processes, reduce friction, and improve the employee experience as we scale. 

 

What we are looking for in you: 

  • Proven experience in an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or Senior HR Advisor role, with a strong mix of partnering and handson delivery. 

  • Solid, practical knowledge of US employment law, with experience managing employee relations confidently and fairly. 

  • A natural business partner mindset — you understand commercial pressures and help leaders make people decisions that stick. 

  • Comfortable working independently; being the sole or lead HR presence locally, while working closely with a broader People team based in the UK. 

  • Experience supporting managers in a growing, fastmoving environment, where judgement and prioritisation matter. 

  • Able to balance peoplefirst thinking with operational discipline — warm, clear, and grounded. 

  • Highly organised, pragmatic, and solutionsfocused. 

  • Someone who brings energy, empathy, and common sense, and genuinely cares about building a great place to work.
