This year, BIC’s global headquarters in Paris, France received the “Pro Vélo" label, a certification awarded by the FUB (Fédération française des Usagers de la Bicyclette), an achievement that demonstrates our commitment to sustainable mobility and promoting the use of bicycles as a means of transport for team members.
The cycle-friendly employer label acknowledges organizations that go the extra mile to support cycling among their workforce. This includes providing essential facilities such as secure bike parking, incentives for cycling during daily commutes, and raising awareness about the numerous health and sustainability benefits associated with cycling. It confirms the excellence of our cycling facilities, incentives for bicycle usage, and efforts to enhance the quality of life for our team members, ensuring they have convenient, healthy, and environmentally friendly commuting options while fostering a culture of well-being and sustainability within our organization and beyond.
BIC has been a proponent of cycling dating long before 2024. Take a cycle through history with us to discover how BIC has supported cycling as a lifestyle and a sport, highlighting our commitments to sustainability, social responsibility, and personal well-being:
1952: The first BIC advertising vehicle, which traveled alongside cyclists of the Tour de France, marked the beginning of a historic and lasting collaboration with the sport.
1953: Artist Félix Aublet created the iconic BIC advertising truck topped by a huge BIC Cristal pen adopting the contours of a rocket. (Fun Fact! From its first appearance, the public chanted BIC’s now famous slogan “Elle court elle court la pointé BIC.”).
1967 to 1974: BIC sponsored a professional team of riders in the Tour de France and won the highly coveted yellow jersey thanks to the participation of Luis Ocaña, winner and leader of the race in 1973.
2013 and 2014: BIC sponsored professional teams in local cycling competitions including the Tour du Ghana and the Ghana Tour race itself.
2024: BIC’s global HQ in Paris was labeled a Pro-Vélo employer - highlighting our commitment to promoting cycling among team members through secure facilities, incentives, and safety initiatives.
Since 1952 when the first BIC advertising vehicle appeared in the Tour de France to our recent pro-cycling label in Paris, we’ve proudly continued our commitment to the sport and lifestyle of cycling.
