Celebrating Culture and Creativity: Simone Dolley Shares Her Team BIC Experience
Wondering what it’s like to join Team BIC? Our team members around the globe are empowered to take ownership of their careers and bring their unique perspectives to the table to help us take our business to the next level.
Meet Simone Dolley, Digital and e-Commerce Manager, who joined BIC South Africa in our Johannesburg office a year-and-a-half ago. Below, Simone shares why she chose to join our Marketing Operations team and how a recent project allowed her to celebrate culture, creativity and innovation.
What made you want to join Team BIC?
How could I say no to working with such an iconic brand! BIC has given me a platform to grow in my career and showcase and strengthen my skills on a global level. It’s been such an incredible journey so far and I look forward to bringing fresh and exciting ideas to my team!
In my current role I have responsibility for everything digital and e-Commerce related for the local market. Having come from a traditional Marketing/PR background, this role allows for me to directly support in advancing the digital economy!
Being able to showcase our brand as modern, innovative, and forward-thinking within the South African market is so exhilarating to me. Many people tend to think that this region is many years behind in the tech-space, when it’s actually the complete opposite. It’s such an exciting time to be doing this type of work with the strength of the BIC brand behind us.
What has been one of your favorite projects?
One of my favorite things about being a part of Team BIC is the collaborative culture I experience each day. Team members from across the globe come together on a daily basis to inspire and achieve – it’s not just corporate jargon when I say that teamwork and collaboration are truly at the heart of this company.
Most recently, our cross-functional team launched the Art Master campaign, which celebrates African creativity and artistry. Originally started in 2017, this campaign has expanded beyond just the South African region and celebrates the fantastic work of ballpen artists from all over Africa and the Middle East!
Seeing artists use our very own BIC products to tell their stories and hardships, showcase their passions and bring their visions to life was so special. Everything that makes us who we are as individuals found a way onto their canvas and provided us with a great sense of unity.
I loved being a part of this campaign – with this year’s theme being ‘Celebrating Africa’, the artists were able to showcase their unique experiences and tell the world what African culture is all about. It was extra special being able to celebrate our South African Art Master winner, Romeon, and spend time with the others who helped bring this experience to life!
Celebrating culture and creativity is truly what Team BIC is all about. Interested in joining our growing team and making an impact like Simone’s? Search for an open role here.
