Cultivating a Culture of Care: How BIC World Prioritizes Mental Health and Well-Being

At BIC World, we believe that taking care of yourself is more than just a personal choice—it is a professional responsibility and a critical differentiator for a long-lasting, sustainable career. As we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to share the stories of our global team members and the initiatives that make BIC World a workplace where well-being is not a trade-off for performance, but the very engine that enables it.

Leading by Example: Personal Journeys in Well-Being

Our team members understand that a healthy body and a balanced mind are essential for sound decision-making and resilience.

Ednaldo Barbosa de Brito (Regional Sales Manager, Brazil): After facing a critical period of stress, Ednaldo made a conscious decision to create a more sustainable and structured routine. He needed an activity that could adapt to the intense pace of constant travel and professional commitments, and he found that balance through running. Today, he considers well-being a strategic pillar of his routine and encourages his team to train together to promote stronger connections and trust.

“I bring this mindset into my leadership style and encourage my team to train together. These moments promote stronger connections, engagement, trust and team integration.”

Rafael Barnez (Regional Sales Manager, Brazil): Rafael believes there is no real separation between personal and professional life, and he prioritizes being fully present in every moment. To reduce stress, he focuses on "three to five big battles" a day and maintains deep connections with his family by leaving phones at home during meals. He also found great value in the Mentorship Program, which helped him reflect on his own career path.

"The most important thing is being fully present at the moment. Whatever you are doing, do it with presence."

Carina Narcizo (Marketing Director, Mexico): Earlier in her career, Carina equated commitment with intensity and an "always on" mindset. She eventually realized this was unsustainable, particularly as a parent. Today, she views well-being as a core enabler of performance, prioritizing intentional energy, strategic thinking, and focusing on initiatives that truly create value and impact. For Carina, leadership means shaping an environment where everyone can perform at their best over the long term.

"Today, I prioritize well-being as a core enabler of performance, not as a trade-off against it."

Global Initiatives and Local Impact

We support our team members through structured programs and flexible policies designed to meet the demands of both professional and personal lives.

Innovative Support in France: Mental Health First Aid Program

In Clichy, BIC is committed to providing an environment where mental health is a priority. The Feelingood@BIC program focuses on well-being, mental health, and chronic illness. A standout initiative is the Mental Health First Aid program, which trains volunteer team members to become Mental Health First Aiders to support individuals personally or professionally.

" I felt a deep personal commitment to bringing mental health to the forefront of our workplace. By approaching HR with the idea for implementing this Mental Health First Aid program in Clichy, the objective was to ensure that every one of our team members can feel better equipped to respond appropriately and raise the alert in case someone appears to be struggling. It’s been incredible to see a single idea evolve into a concrete program that provides real, practical tools for our people to look out for one another. " - Chloé Faby, Marketing Procurement Manager EMEA, France

"What began as an individual initiative has grown into a powerful collective momentum across our French offices in Clichy and will then be extended to factories. Our goal was to move beyond just talking about mental health and instead take meaningful actions. Feedback from first participants to this initiative is extremely positive.  They no longer feel powerless and are now equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to support people in both personal and professional environments." - Lauriane Legrand, HR Team, France

Empowerment in Mexico and Brazil

In Mexico, the focus extends to personal resilience through Mentorship Programs and volunteer initiatives at animal shelters and philanthropic institutions. Across our Latin American regions, we foster a "speak up" mindset supported by flexible work models, "shorter Fridays," and comprehensive health insurance plans.

"Access to guidance beyond immediate teams creates a layer of support that is particularly valuable in navigating complex and demanding roles."  - Carina, Narcizo, Marketing Director, Mexico

The Power of Connection: SWIM (Supporting Wellness & Improving Mental Health)

In North America, our SWIM Employee Resource Group plays a vital role in our culture. Throughout the month of May, SWIM is sponsoring several events for our NAM team members focused on community and mental health, including:

  • Understanding and Addressing Burnout Workshop: A session designed to help team members identify signs of burnout and implement strategies for recovery.
  • Virtual Breath Workshop: Centered around simple breathing techniques to help employees reduce stress, reset, and recharge.
  • Create Your Calm: A hands-on workshop featuring reflection and gratitude activities, creative coloring stations for relaxation, a soothing loose tea bar, and even visits with a therapy dog.

"Our mission with SWIM is to create a community where everyone feels empowered to prioritize their mental health. By providing these spaces to breathe, reflect, and connect, we ensure that our team members don't just work together—they thrive together." — Adriana, Senior Manager HR & SWIM ERG Co-Chair, US

These grassroots efforts ensure that every employee has a space to feel heard, supported, and empowered.
