What is Demand Planning?

This team is responsible for the development and execution of forecasting and planning processes globally. Operating with a future-focused mindset, they look at customer needs 24-months ahead and work cross-functionally as a key player in the integrated business planning process.

With our OneBIC approach to work in mind, Demand Planning’s scope expands across Team BIC, including collaborating with partners across:

  • Finance
  • Supply chain
  • Sales
  • Marketing

By using qualitative and quantitative forecasting techniques, the team helps to ensure that BIC...

  • Has the right products at the right place at the right time
  • Reduces cost and waste where possible
  • Improves service to our customers
  • Creates sustainable business growth

Be A Dot Connector

As a member of the Demand Planning team, agility and ambiguity often go hand-in-hand – especially when making predictions about market trends. The major factors that can influence a customer's decision to purchase are always in flux, so no two days look exactly the same.

“Our team is responsible for connecting the dots internally. We need to be familiar with the entire business, multiple processes and systems, so that we can help the organization continue to execute our Horizon Strategy,” shares Berthille Roy, Director, Demand Planning.

When asked about what skills will make someone successful on the team, Berthille says that there is a focus on soft skills.

  • Curiosity: Not only are you a big picture thinker when it comes to market analysis, but you also have an interest in how different teams at BIC come together to achieve our goals collectively.
  • Adaptability: Working across multiple business functions can be complex – especially on a global scale. From finance, to supply chain to sales and marketing, the work of the Demand Planning team influences each of these functions.
  • Solutions Oriented: Whether you are joining the team as an analyst or a manager, having the right mindset is key to success. Our team members across the globe are problem solvers – looking for new ways to think about things to keep BIC top-of-mind for customers and consumers alike!
