The Power of Volunteerism: Giving Back with BIC
Our BIC team members are proud to be a part of the global effort to improve learning conditions for students worldwide.
In partnership with the BIC Corporate Foundation, our team members can give back to their local communities by participating in volunteer projects and initiatives to support the causes that mean the most to them.
Check out some of what #TeamBIC has to say about the power of volunteerism, below.
Maël Piedvache, Talent Acquisition Partner, Europe (Jury LDH)
“I recently had the chance to participate in the Creative Writing Olympics (Olympiades d’écriture créative). As a member of the jury, I was able to help decide which students would be receiving recognition awards based on their ability to write creatively. I completed my studies in the same area where these students are from, so being able to give back to this specific community felt really special. It let me reconnect with the purpose of my job. The BIC Foundation makes it easy for us to support local causes that are aligned with our personal values – ensuring education is accessible to all.”
Benson Mwenda, Senior Optimizer, BIC East Africa (LP4Y Mock Interviews)
“I participated in the mock interviews with students of BIC’s Indian-based NGO partner LP4Y. During the mock interviews, we assessed both soft and hard skills and carefully reviewed the student’s resumes, providing constructive feedback and guidance on how they improve. It is important to me that we extend our reach beyond our daily work, nurturing future leaders who share our commitment to making a positive impact in the world.”
Melita Thauthau, Import and Export Coordinator, Southern, East & Central Africa (LP4Y Mock Interviews)
“As someone who was born and raised in an underprivileged community, I know what it feels like to not fit in because of where you come from. After working so hard to enter the corporate world, I promised myself to try my best to support and guide the next generation. It was fulfilling to do work that I know will make a difference on the lives of these students.”
Ruxandra Constantin, Marketing Manager Stationery Romania & Balkans (LP4Y Mock Interviews)
“Volunteering comes in many forms and shapes, and it can start from doing simple things in your neighborhood or at work. At BIC, we get a chance to make a direct impact by partnering with schools, so that we can support and improve children’s access to education. The joy of contributing to something like this is priceless, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this with BIC.”
Marine Poniatowski, Global Senior Marketing Manager – Stationery (Les Olympiades d’Ecriture Créative)
“I had the pleasure of joining the Board of the BIC Corporate Foundation in September 2023, with the objective to scale up initiatives to improve the learning conditions of 250 million Children by 2025. As part of the Human Expression Global Marketing Team, volunteering for the BIC Foundation makes my daily work even more meaningful, as we are designing pens and creative products to enable learning.”
Rishabh Diwan, Manager, HR – MEA & GEM Asia (LP4Y Mock Interviews)
“I believe volunteering is an engaging and an effective way for members of the BIC team to bring about societal change. The BIC Corporate Foundation has provided a solid platform for various volunteering initiatives, allowing us to reach far and wide, building connections and making an impact in communities around the globe.”
Housseynatou Diallo, Deputy Manager, Payroll (Rêv’ elles ton potentiel)
“I expected to share my own experience with students during this event, but what I didn’t expect was for this to turn into a learning experience for me as well. The girls shared their life visions and future career goals with me. As a mother to a daughter, their determination and motivation to pursue their dreams was inspiring.”
