This role is a key contributor within the Category team, responsible for developing and executing the category agenda in alignment with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to drive profitable growth for BIC and its retail partners. The Category Development Executive applies strong analytical skills to extract insights and deliver effective category solutions through performance reporting, new product development (NPD) ideation, whitespace analysis, and shelf layout planning.

Clear communication and strategic alignment across cross-functional teams are essential, ensuring a cohesive approach to category initiatives. This role requires a commercially minded and professional approach when analyzing category data to safeguard BIC’s current revenue streams and strengthen its market position.

Focused on domestic sales operations across Australia and New Zealand, this position plays a pivotal role in supporting commercial objectives through data-driven insights and strategic execution, contributing to the continued growth and success of BIC in the region.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS

 

Category Management & Reporting

  • Define and implement strategies that deliver sub-category growth based on shopper, consumer, and customer needs.
  • Consolidate consumer and shopper insights into compelling, insight-driven Category Stories.
  • Lead or assist with range review processes, providing market analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Conduct secondary data scans to uncover category insights from multiple data sources.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales and Marketing teams to deliver data-driven outcomes for internal and external briefs using available data sources.
  • Monitor and track BIC’s market performance by category and customer.
  • Lead and support planogram development aligned with category strategies.
  • Collaborate with syndicated data partners and global knowledge teams to support the operation of category management 

 

Business Planning Support

  • Support month-end processes, including the maintenance and analysis of category reports.
  • Assist in account planning by providing data-driven insights and analysis.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary qualifications, ideally in Business, Economics or Data Analytics Equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in category, or commercial analysis, with a strong ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in FMCG Analytics tools e.g. Circana, NielsenIQ, Quantium etc.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and proficiency with data tools such as Power BI, enabling effective data visualization and analysis.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of simplifying complex data for non-technical audiences and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop internal/external collaborative cross functional relationships.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, managing ambiguity and competing priorities effectively.
  • Proactive and curious, with a passion for building processes, tools, and strategies that support business scaling and continuous improvement.
  • High attention to detail.
