Job Description

 

 

As a Packaging Engineer, you'll be responsible to manage, develop, and implement the packaging materials used in the plant, as well as guarantee that they meet the functionality and needs of the customer and are documented in the system. Communicate the progress and development of packaging materials with national and foreign clients, as well as establish packaging specifications with suppliers. Drive continuous improvement by standardizing packaging materials and reducing costs 

The Packaging Engineer must be able to manage multiple projects, effectively communicate progress with internal teams and global stakeholders, and ensure timely follow-up on all packaging projects. Strong project management skills are essential for overseeing the successful execution of packaging initiatives. 

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement packaging materials based on the requirements of different countries, including the creation of structural drawings and functional packaging that reflect the brand and meet customer needs. 
  • Ensure that packaging materials meet both plant and customer requirements by coordinating and conducting validation tests 
  • Visit suppliers as needed and evaluate the performance of packaging materials prior to their release to production. 
  • Develop new suppliers and collaborate with the existing ones the development of structural drawings and artworks. Authorize mechanical drawings to approve the start of production. 
  • Approve the packaging instructions with the sequence of the packaging so that the production area have the correct information and package the product as expected. 
  • Follow up on packaging projects and maintain communication with regional and global teams to ensure alignment and consistency across all new developments 
  • Management of the Oracle E1 system.  
  • Ensure sustainable data tracking for all packaging materials. 
  • Pursue innovation in packaging materials and machinery
  • Sustainable development Plastics commitment stablishes that by 2025, 100% of BIC consumer plastic packaging will be reusable, recyclable, or compostable, so new processes and materials need to be developed in the coming years by this position.

 

 

Projects You'll Work On:

 

  • Communicate to different countries the progress and development of the requested packaging materials by mail, calls and video conference to follow up on each project. 
  • Standardize packaging materials used in plant/co-packers and propose savings projects. 
  • Work under pressure, develop new projects with reduced times. 
  • Oversee the execution of multiple projects within the same timeframe.  
  • Troubleshooting when a material arrives in unfavorable conditions with the customer. 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor´s or engineering degree. 
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in packaging engineering.
  • Project Management Experience in Packaging
  • Strong organizational and communication skills. 
  • Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Advanced English. 
  • Proficiency in Excel.
